Indie Hacker

A personal portfolio for someone who ships products. A shelf of your SaaS projects charting live monthly revenue from Stripe, a built-in newsletter with a hosted archive, and a landing page that reads like a person, not a company. This is the indie-hacker template.

It is the one template that is not a multi-tenant SaaS. There is one user (you), so it pins the Better Auth starter and runs on the basic layout, and it ships no mobile or extension screens of its own.

What's inside

  • A starter for auth, defaulting to Better Auth.
  • The basic layout (swappable at install).
  • Newsletter as its fixed feature pack: the signup panel on the landing page, the hosted archive, and the admin email studio.
  • The project shelf: cards for each product with a live monthly revenue chart, pulled from your Stripe account.
  • A crimson, light-mode theme, a portfolio landing page, and a resources hub.

What you need to set up

  1. Auth - follow SaaS Starter (Better Auth) for the Google OAuth app and Resend.
  2. Newsletter - follow Newsletter: a verified Resend domain and the Resend webhook for delivery events.
  3. Revenue charts - a Stripe restricted key with read access to charges, set as STRIPE_SECRET_KEY, so the shelf can read monthly revenue per product.
  4. Admin - set SUPER_ADMIN_EMAIL to sign in to the admin app and write your first newsletter release.

Postgres, Valkey, and RustFS are base services shared by every Hype Stack app.

Why use the template instead of composing packs yourself

Composing gets you auth and a newsletter. The template adds the parts that make it a portfolio: the product shelf with revenue, the landing page written in the first person, and the archive laid out as a publication. You edit the copy and add your products.

Sponsor open source

Every purchase and sponsorship funds my 8+ years of work on open source given freely to the community. It keeps the lights on, funds new packs, and keeps the ecosystem alive. Even a small tier means a lot. Thank you!
