Affiliate Terms

If you write about Hype Stack, cover it in a newsletter or video, or recommend it to people who build software, you can earn a share of what they buy. These terms say how that works, what gets you paid, and what gets you removed.

They are deliberately strict in one area: buying ads on our own name. Everything else is the usual common sense. By joining the program you agree to what is on this page.

Every application is reviewed by a person. We can accept or decline anyone, and we do not have to explain why. Approval is not permanent, and we can end it later under the Enforcement section below.

• One account per person or company. Extra accounts are removed and their commissions voided.
• Give real details, including the channels you actually plan to promote on.
• You must be legally able to enter a contract where you live.
• Current Hype Stack staff and contractors cannot join.

You get a personal link carrying your referral slug. When someone lands on our site through it, a first-party cookie records the referral for 30 days. If they buy in that window, the sale is credited to you.

Attribution is not perfect and we will not reconstruct it by hand. Cookie blocking, ad blockers, private browsing, a different device, or a link that lost its slug all mean no credit. If two affiliates referred the same buyer, our tracking decides who gets it, and that decision is final.

Commission is earned on completed, paid orders placed through our checkout. Your rate is shown on your campaign page in the affiliate dashboard, and any rate we agree with you individually overrides it.

• Commission is calculated on the net amount: after any discount, and excluding VAT and sales tax. Our payment provider collects that tax as merchant of record, so it was never our revenue to share.
• Free packs and the open-source template earn nothing, and neither do orders totalling zero.
• Subscription renewals earn for the period set on your campaign page. If nothing is set, only the first payment earns.
• Your own purchases never earn. See Self-Referral below.

A new commission is held for 30 days before it becomes payable. That covers the 14-day window in our Refunds Policy with room to spare. Once the hold passes, the commission is included in the next payout run.

• Payouts run through our affiliate platform to your connected Stripe Express account. You need to finish that onboarding, including any tax forms, before we can pay you.
• Balances below the minimum payout threshold roll over to the next run.
• Refunds and chargebacks reverse the commission in proportion to the amount refunded, whenever they happen.
• If a refund lands after you have already been paid, we may recover it from your future commissions or ask you to return it.
• Bank fees, currency conversion, and taxes on your earnings are yours to handle.

• ✓Your own content: blog posts, newsletters, videos, courses, podcasts, streams, and social posts you publish yourself.
• ✓Honest reviews and tutorials: including critical ones. You do not have to pretend we are perfect to get paid.
• ✓Comparisons: against other templates and boilerplates, as long as the facts are accurate.
• ✓Communities you belong to: where self-promotion is welcome and you follow that community's rules.
• ✓Your own email list: people who opted in to hear from you.

• ✕Paid ads on our name: covered in full in the next section.
• ✕Coupon and deal sites: pages built to rank for "Hype Stack coupon", "discount", or "promo code" and catch buyers who were already on their way.
• ✕Forced or hidden clicks: cookie stuffing, pop-unders, hidden iframes, auto-redirects, or anything that sets your referral without a real click.
• ✕Spam: unsolicited email, cold DMs, comment and forum spam, or posting where self-promotion is banned.
• ✕Bulk generated pages: mass-produced or AI-spun pages whose only purpose is to rank for our brand.
• ✕False claims: invented features, made-up benchmarks, fake pricing, fake reviews, or fake urgency.
• ✕Pretending to be us: impersonating Hype Stack or BetterTyped, our staff, or our support, or suggesting you work for us.
• ✕Paying people to buy: cashback, rebates, giveaways, or other incentives tied to purchases through your link, unless we agree in writing first.

You cannot use paid advertising to intercept people who are already looking for us. This is the rule we enforce hardest, because it costs us a sale we had already earned and charges us commission for it.

Specifically, on Google, Bing, Meta, X, Reddit, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, app stores, and anything comparable:

• No bidding on Hype Stack, BetterTyped, misspellings of either, or our name combined with words like coupon, discount, review, pricing, login, or alternative.
• Add those terms and their misspellings as negative keywords on every campaign you run, including broad and phrase match.
• No direct linking. An ad must land on your own content first, never on our site.
• No use of our name or logo in ad headlines, descriptions, display URLs, or ad paths.
• No domains, subdomains, social handles, or app names containing our name or a typo of it.
• No retargeting people who visited our site.

The consequence is not partial. If we find you bidding on our brand, every unpaid commission on your account is voided, not only the sales that came from the ads, and your account is closed.

Tell people you earn a commission. Put it somewhere they will see before they click, not buried in a footer. Plain wording is fine: "this is an affiliate link and I earn a commission if you buy".

Advertising and disclosure rules where you and your audience live are your responsibility, including FTC guidelines in the United States and the equivalent rules elsewhere.

You may use our name, logo, and screenshots to identify what you are recommending. Do not stretch, recolour, or redraw the logo, and do not use it as the identity of your own site, product, or channel.

Being an affiliate does not make you a partner, reseller, or official representative, and you cannot describe yourself as one.

Buying through your own link earns nothing. Neither does a purchase by your company, a colleague buying for work you are part of, or someone buying on your behalf so you can collect the commission.

We check this against buyer emails and organizations. A purchase that turns out to be a self-referral has its commission voided, and doing it deliberately closes the account.

While a commission is inside the hold window we can mark it invalid and stop it being paid. We use that when a sale looks like it came from something on this page we do not allow.

Depending on what happened, we may:

• Void the individual commission.
• Void every unpaid commission on the account, for serious or repeated breaches.
• Pause payouts while we look into it.
• Close the account and end the agreement.

We would rather get this right than be fast about it. If you think we have made a mistake, email us with what you were doing and we will take another look.

Either of us can end this at any time, for any reason. If we close your account for anything other than a breach, commissions you have already earned and that have cleared the hold window still get paid.

If we close it for a breach of these terms, unpaid commissions are forfeited. Either way, stop using our brand assets and remove your affiliate links.

We may update these terms. The current version always lives on this page, and we will email active affiliates before anything significant changes. Promoting us after a change means you accept it.
