favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px inside, favicon-16x16.png and favicon-32x32.png for modern browsers, apple-touch-icon.png at 180 px for iOS home screens, and 192 and 512 px icons for Android and installable web apps.
It also has site.webmanifest, already filled in with your name and colour, and a snippet.html with the link tags in the right order.
Where the files go
Put everything at the root of your site, the folder your server serves as /. In Vite and most React setups that's the public folder. Then paste the tags inside the head of index.html.

What favicon sizes do I need in 2026?
A favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px, PNGs at 16 and 32 px, a 180 px apple-touch-icon, and 192 and 512 px icons in a web manifest. This generator makes all of them from one image.
Do I still need a favicon.ico?
Yes. Browsers and many crawlers request /favicon.ico before reading your HTML. Keep it at the root even when you also link PNG or SVG icons.
How do I add the favicon to my site?
Unzip the files into the folder your site serves from the root, then paste the tags from snippet.html into the head of your HTML. Hard-refresh to see the new icon, because browsers cache favicons aggressively.
Why is my old favicon still showing?
Browsers cache favicons for a long time. Hard-refresh, open the site in a private window, or add a version query such as favicon.ico?v=2 to the link tags.
