3 rows, split on commas. Codes with a leading zero, like ZIP codes, stay text.
How it works.
- 1
Paste CSV or open a .csv file. The delimiter is detected from the first lines.
- 2
Choose whether the first row is a header, and whether numbers and true or false become real values.
- 3
Copy the JSON or download it as a .json file.
Why splitting on commas isn't enough
"Smith, Ada" is one field, not two. A cell can hold a line break. A quote inside a quoted cell is written twice. A split(",") breaks on all three, which is why so many quick scripts mangle real exports.
This parser follows RFC 4180, the closest thing CSV has to a standard, and reads exports from Excel, Google Sheets, Stripe and Postgres the same way.
Types, and when to leave them alone
CSV has no types, so everything is text. With detection on, 42 becomes a number, TRUE becomes true and an empty cell becomes null. Values like 02134 or +48 600 100 200 stay text, because a number would drop the zero or the plus.
Integers too large for JavaScript to hold exactly also stay text, so long IDs come through intact.
Questions, answered.
How do I convert CSV to JSON?
Paste the CSV into the box above or open the file. The JSON appears on the right, one object per row with the header names as keys. Copy it or download it.
What if my CSV uses semicolons or tabs?
Leave the delimiter on Auto and it's detected from the first lines. If the guess is wrong, pick comma, semicolon, tab or pipe yourself.
What happens without a header row?
Turn off "First row is the header" and each row becomes an array of values instead of an object. That suits raw data with no column names.
How are duplicate or empty column names handled?
A repeated name gets a number, so a second name column becomes name_2. An empty header is named after its position, like column_4. No value is dropped.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The file is read and parsed in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere, which matters for exports full of customer emails.
